The Jovan Caraballo Memorial Scholarship
LAMA Pocono has awarded a Scholarship to high school seniors in the Pocono area for the past three years. This year we have named the scholarship in honor of our youth member, Jovan Caraballo "Ironman", who fought bravely against Pediatric Bone Cancer.
Jovan X. Caraballo was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma January 6th, 2013, when doctors discovered a malignant tumor in his left femur bone. He underwent chemotherapy from February through October 2013. Jovan had been through numerous procedures and major surgery. On April 24, 2013, Jovan had the entire left femur resected, along with his knee and a portion of the bone under his knee. He spent 6 weeks at a rehab center where he had to re-learn basic motor skills like the ones you teach a toddler - how to stand, how to walk, how to put on his socks and sneakers. He had to re-learn things you do daily without even thinking about.
Jovan was the youngest of 3 children and was only 15 years old. He was very fortunate to have had a strong circle of family and friends who are now known as Team Jovi!!!
Jovan lost his battle January 24, 2015.

JOVI MEMORIAL PATCH
The Latin American Motorcycle Association Pocono Chapter has a Veterans Committee. This committee was created to help out disabled veterans in need in our local communities. Helping veterans , in a way to foster individuality , independence, inclusion and productivity in their lives. This could be easily done by contructing, for example, a wheelchair ramp, installing specialized equipment, and simple home improvements.
Donations from each and everyone of you will contribute to a special project that will better the life of a disabled veteran. We had a successful project in 2013 -2014 and will do the same for 2015 with your help.
